On 30 November, in Buenos Aires, TAG Heuer announced that it has become the Official Timekeeper and Official Watch of the prestigious CONMEBOL Libertadores, the most passionate tournament in South America, for the upcoming 2018 and 2019 seasons. As part of the partnership, the CONMEBOL professional referees will be equipped with TAG Heuer Connected watches sporting a special referee application to support them in tracking time during the game.

The announcement took place during the second leg of the 2017 Copa Libertadores’ final between Brazil’s Gremio and Argentina’s Lanús at their stadium in Argentina, resulting in a 2-1 victory of Grêmio who will represent South America at the FIFA Club World Cup UAE 2017. The legends Sebastián Battaglia participated to the ceremony hosted by Christian Weissbach, TAG Heuer Caribbean and Latin America President, Marcos Senna, CONMEBOL Commercial Director and Argentinian sport anchor Sebastián Vignolo.

The limited edition Jack Heuer variant is similar, but using a couple important differences aside from the apparent dial colors, though these gaps can be difficult to see if you do not understand what you’re looking for. Of course, unlike the non-limited version reference CBE2110.FC8226 edition of the Autavia Heuer 02, this reference CBE 2111. BA0687 Jack Heuer edition of this Autavia is limited to 1,932 pieces (due to Jack’s birth year). The opinion is due to be published on or around Jack’s 85th birthday that’s on November 17th. I recommend that anyone who’s interested in this particular watch, and who may have missed my preceding linked-to review — reference it after reading this article. For the most part, everything I said about the non-limited variation applies to this limited edition model which range from the grade Heuer 02 in-house automatic chronograph movement, slick vintage looks, and decent value for the money. The major gap in the Jack Heuer Autavia versus the other version is the dial colour — which, in this instance, is silver using black-colored sub-dials. While I only have the brand’s images of this watch handy for this article, I’ve worn and handled this watch a few times and can attest to its desirability. 1 thing I want to mention is that unlike the way the images seem to depict the hands, the dial is for the most part just as legible as on the black-dialed Autavia, if my memory serves me correctly. The silver-colored dial contrasts very nicely with the black sub-dials, making for an extremely authentic panda-dial appearance that I happen to find attractive. In my opinion, it actually edges out the non-limited edition Autavia as being the more appealing of both — but in fact, they’re equally good-looking timepieces.

TAG Heuer hosted its ICON challenge in front of the hospitality suite so fans could experience the same #DontCrackUnderPressure moments as their favorite team.
